I work in bioethics. My current research interests concentrate on the neuroethical issues posed by novel invasive biomedical technologies, especially in the brain. Parts of my research at the University of Washington (UW) consists in exploring the ethics of implantable brain devices, in particular the effects of brain computer interfaces on patients sense of the self, autonomy and control while being treated for neurological and psychiatric conditions. My research at UW is funded by the Centre for Sensiromotor Neural Engineering.
