Congratulations to all our 2026 graduates!
We held our ceremony June 8, 2025 at the wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House, continuing the wonderful tradition of a Philosophy Departmental Graduation. Over half of the class of 2026, both undergraduate and graduates, were able to attend, bringing over 350 of their family and friends to celebrate with them.
Our alumni speaker was Jasmin Weaver, the Chief of Staff for the King County Executive, a 2002 UW Philosophy grad. Our undergraduate speaker was Zhenya Shapiro, a winner of two departmental awards (Outstanding Graduating Senior & Graduate Student Choice), along with the Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Philosophy Journal; Garden of Idea's. Faculty member Amelia Wirts closed out the festivities with a faculty toast.
Congratulations to all who earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees! We also want to wish a huge congratulations to the five students who received Doctoral degree's Aaron B. Barker, Daniel Galley, Jonathan Milgrim, Kyle O'Dwyer and Sofia Savage. Three of whom; Aaron, Kyle and Sofia were in attendance at the ceremony to be hooded.
Thank you all for your continued support of our students, and for those graduated: good luck with all your future endeavors. The department can't wait to see what you all achieve.
