Uma Kukathas has worked as a professional editor and writer for 20 years, focusing on essays and books on literary criticism, human rights, and environmental conservation. She returned to philosophy in 2011 to complete a PhD in the area of philosophy of literature. The subject of her dissertation is moral improvement in the writings of the philosopher-novelist Iris Murdoch. She is currently on leave and lives with her family in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
