This class surveys key philosophical works from 17th and 18th century European philosophers, including Rene Descartes, Elisabeth of Bohemia, Anne Conway, David Hume, and Immanuel Kant. Philosophical topics will include the nature of the mind, the mind-body relation, skepticism about the external world, the existence of God, and the nature of rationality.

Examination of metaphysical and epistemological problems from the works of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant.
