Syllabus Description (from Canvas):

OVERVIEW: The goal of this course is to provide first-year graduate students with materials and support needed to begin teaching at the college level, with focus on their role as Teaching Assistants. We investigate empirical work and best practices in pedagogy for a variety of topics, including beginning and leading classroom discussions; grading philosophical assignments and time management; and fostering and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment.  Students will also seek out feedback and advice about teaching from other philosophers (especially from each other), creating a space in which they can begin to develop their own pedagogical identity in a reflective and self-directed manner.
